Why Medborgarvägen exists

On 6 June 2026, the rules for Swedish citizenship were tightened, and with them came the citizenship exam — a new requirement that affects a great many people's lives, often while they're already juggling everything else that comes with building a life in a new country. Medborgarvägen started as a small, independent project with a simple goal: to make that part easier.

We are not UHR, not Migrationsverket, and not some large education company — Medborgarvägen is an independent initiative, built to complement the work the authorities already do, not replace it. The course content follows UHR's and Skolverket's official study material "Sverige i fokus" chapter by chapter, so what you study here is actually connected to what the exam is meant to test.

The idea behind the format — chapters you can read at your own pace, a question bank to practice against, and timed practice exams that resemble the real exam's format — is that studying for an important government exam shouldn't have to feel messy or unclear. You should know what you need to learn, and have a way to test whether it's sunk in.

Medborgarvägen is, and will likely continue to be, a small project built and maintained by a single person, not a large team. That shows sometimes — for example, the practice questions grow in number over time rather than all being there from the start. We prefer that to pretending to be something we're not.
