Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Medborgarvägen (medborgarvagen.se) is an independent study aid for people taking the citizenship exam in civics. We are not UHR, Migrationsverket, or any other government authority. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have.

2. What data we collect

  • Name and email address, when you create an account.
  • Password — never stored in plain text, only as a cryptographic hash.
  • Your results on chapter quizzes and practice exams, to show your progress overview.
  • A session cookie (ms_session) that keeps you logged in. It is necessary for the service to function and contains no tracking data.

We do not currently use any third-party analytics or marketing cookies.

3. Why we collect the data

We process your data in order to provide the service: creating and managing your account, saving your study progress, and keeping you logged in. The legal basis is that the data is necessary to fulfil the agreement between you and us (our terms of use) when you create an account.

4. Who we share data with

We never sell your data. To run the service, we use a small number of subprocessors who handle data on our behalf:

  • Vercel — hosts the website.
  • Turso — hosts the database where account and progress data is stored.
  • Stripe — if and when a paid subscription is fully activated, Stripe handles payment information. We never store card details ourselves.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you want to delete your account and your data, contact us as described in point 7 and we'll remove it.

6. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Have your data deleted ("the right to be forgotten").
  • Request that we restrict or object to our processing.
  • Receive your data in a structured format (data portability).
  • File a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) if you believe we are processing your data incorrectly.
